Making a Claim for Industrial Hearing Loss

Treadstone Law can help you with your hearing loss claim, If you  have suffered exposure to excessive noise that has caused permanent and irreversible damage to your hearing.

At work we put our health and safety in the hands of our employers.  We trust that we can carry out our duties in a manner that does not affect our long term health and well-being. Unfortunately, Noise Induced Hearing Loss, Acoustic Shock and Tinnitus are all conditions that can be caused by excessive exposure to noise in the workplace, all of which could have been preventable

What are the symptoms of hearing loss?

  • Lack of hearing in one or both ears
  • Temporary or permanent hearing loss
  • Ringing, buzzing or hissing noises can be a sign of tinnitus
  • Missing parts of conversations
  • Struggling to hear people if there is background noise
  • Having to turn the TV or radio volume up

How much can you claim for hearing loss?

Moderate tinnitus or hearing loss may receive a compensation payout of £7,000 to £19,000. Total deafness in both ears with tinnitus may result in a compensation award of up to £70,000.

The causes of industrial hearing loss

If you are employed or have previously been employed in a noisy environment, your industrial deafness or hearing loss may have been caused by exposure to excessive noise levels at work.

Work-related hearing problems can take years to develop, even if you have been exposed to loud noise for a while. Therefore, you may not automatically associate the damage with your working conditions.

At Treadstone Law we can help you with every step of your claim. We have a wealth of experience successfully acting on behalf of those who have been affected by noise induced hearing loss and other industrial diseases.

Our specialist solicitors helped Mr S from Bolton, who worked as a coal miner for 12 years in Salford. As a result he had developed high tone deafness meaning he couldn’t hear the TV properly and missed words in conversation.

No admission of liability was forthcoming although a low offer was received, which we argued was unacceptable.  Following our advice we were able to issue court proceedings and we got him double what was originally offered. A good result all round!
